Introduction & Feelings

Welcome on board! This week we will get to know each other, see where you stand and set your expectations for the course. We will dive into the theme of the week, "Feelings".

The first week of the course focuses on adjectives and their various aspects. You will begin by understanding the role of adjectives in describing feelings and emotions, learning a range of descriptive words and their applications in sentences. You will then delve into the order of adjectives before nouns, exploring how different types naturally sequence. Additionally, the course covers adjective endings, examining how suffixes like -ed or -ing alter meaning and usage. You will also study degrees of comparison to effectively compare qualities. Furthermore, the curriculum includes strong adjectives, which intensify meanings and emotions. Throughout the week, interactive activities and language practice sessions provide hands-on learning experiences, reinforcing comprehension and application of these essential grammar concepts.

In the second week the focus expands to practical vocabulary related to computer games, various film genres, and TV programs. You will explore terminology specific to gaming, different types of films, and television genres. Alongside vocabulary development, the week delves into grammar essentials: the present simple and present continuous tenses. You will learn to differentiate and use these tenses effectively. Additionally, the concept of contrast in language will be introduced, emphasising its application in discussing preferences, genres, and styles across entertainment mediums. 

Throughout our uniquely designed interactive activities we will help you ensure practical language practice, reinforcing comprehension and application in contexts relevant to contemporary media and leisure activities.

Adventure

In the third week the focus is on adventurous and extreme sports vocabulary, alongside a detailed exploration of past simple and past continuous tenses. You will immerse yourself in the terminology and nuances of adventure and extreme sports, acquiring vocabulary essential for describing extreme sports. You will also learn about safety equipment, techniques, and adrenaline-inducing experiences associated with these sports. Simultaneously, this week will delve into the past simple and past continuous tenses. You will grasp the differences between these tenses.

Through exercises and examples, you will practice constructing narratives and recounting thrilling sports experiences using these grammatical structures. The interactive activities throughout the week provide opportunities for practical language application, reinforcing vocabulary acquisition and grammatical accuracy in contexts relevant to adventure and extreme sports.

Worth a Visit

In the fourth week the focus shifts to visitor attractions, compound nouns related to traveling and sightseeing, as well as the present perfect and past perfect tenses. You will explore vocabulary related to visitor attractions, learning adjectives that describe these places. You will understand how to use these adjectives effectively to paint vivid descriptions of famous landmarks, museums, natural wonders, and cultural sites.

Additionally, the week covers compound nouns associated with traveling and sightseeing. You will learn the meanings of these compound nouns and how to use them appropriately in sentences. Grammatically, the focus will be on the present perfect and past perfect tenses. You will distinguish between these tenses.

Dream Jobs

In the fifth week you will delve into a comprehensive jobs and work glossary, acquiring vocabulary essential for describing professions, roles, and workplace environments. You will learn terms such as career path, job market, professional development, and specific job titles across different industries. Interactive activities throughout the week will provide opportunities for applying vocabulary related to jobs and work, as well as practicing the various future tenses, ensuring you strengthen your language skills effectively.

Through interactive activities and language practice, you will reinforce your understanding of vocabulary related to tourism and sightseeing, as well as your ability to use present perfect and past perfect tenses accurately in both spoken and written contexts.

Shopping

In the sixth week the focus centers on shopping-related vocabulary, types of shops, word collocations, verbs associated with money, and the first and second conditionals. You will immerse yourself in vocabulary essential for shopping, exploring terms related to retail environments.  Simultaneously, the week will emphasize word collocations, particularly those related to shopping and consumerism. You will grasp how to use these collocations naturally and effectively in conversations and written communication.

Additionally, the curriculum covers verbs associated with money. You will learn to express financial actions and decisions accurately in different contexts. Interactive activities throughout the week will provide opportunities for practical application of shopping-related vocabulary, word collocations, money-related verbs, and conditional sentences, ensuring comprehensive language development in contexts relevant to everyday consumer activities.

Gadgets

In the seventh week you will delve into a comprehensive range of vocabulary related to gadgets, covering terms for various electronic devices. You will also learn vocabulary related to materials used in manufacturing gadgets. Simultaneously, the week will emphasize describing technology effectively. You will learn adjectives and phrases to describe the features, functions, and capabilities of modern gadgets. Grammatically, the focus will be on the passive voice. You will understand the construction and usage of passive sentences, where the focus is on the recipient of the action rather than the doer. You will practice transforming active sentences into passive ones.

Through interactive activities and practical exercises, you will enhance your understanding and application of gadget-related vocabulary, effective descriptions of technology, and the correct usage of the passive voice in various contexts.

Crime and Safety

In the final week you will immerse yourself in a comprehensive range of vocabulary related to crimes and criminals, learning terms for various offenses. You will also study nouns and adjectives used to describe individuals involved in criminal activities. Simultaneously, the week will cover verbs used to describe crimes and criminal actions. You will acquire vocabulary for understanding how these verbs are used in sentences to describe illegal activities. Additionally, the curriculum will focus on collocations related to police work. You will learn how to use these collocations naturally in contexts related to law enforcement and criminal justice.

Grammatically, the focus will be on direct and reported speech. You will learn how to report what someone has said. You will practice transforming direct speech into reported speech and vice versa, understanding the changes in verb tense, pronouns, and word order that may occur. Throughout the final week, interactive activities and practical exercises will provide you with opportunities to apply your knowledge of crime-related vocabulary, police work collocations, and direct/reported speech, ensuring comprehensive language development in contexts relevant to law, justice, and communication.
